John Gallup Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Here's an article about renovation of the hall where the San Diego Symphony Orchestra plays. The original facility was a movie theater; now it's something very different. The article talks about "banker's wire," but I presume what they're referring to is a product from this company. I would never have imagined that wire mesh could have desirable acoustic effects, but that's what they've installed. I think that's what you see in those moiré patterns on the ceiling above the stage. The exterior of the entire project gives no clue as to what's inside. The first time I went to concert there I was amazed to find a 1920s movie palace beneath a parking garage. Now it's a music palace, and I'm looking forward to hearing a concert soon. 5 1
Delkat Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Article is paywalled for me but it looks beautiful!

ctsooner Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 That's really cool. So this 'theater/hall' is under that garage? wow. 1
