Sbank
Great work, @TomicTime! Guys, you'd be impressed by all the consideration Jim has put into each and every detail in this room. Although I don't see a coffee mug in use, trust me when I say he downed a few pots worth getting this room so well sorted!

ctsooner
Jim, I have the similar listening chair from Stickley, the larger Harvey Ellis cabinet from Stickely for my TV and audio gear. Good minds....... 😉. love your set up man.
TomicTime
Thanks guys…. I dont know about genius… but RV has helped me. I moved the speakers out a bit and re-ran Vandertones…. amazingly flat to 24 HZ…. subtle tweak down at 60 hz on L cannel…. wow… said a prayer… when i agreed to try this smaller room… Hanford answered…. ha… The photo probably qualifies as inaudible guilding of the Lilly… but it was fun…i love live edge…
Huang
You are so right about great minds I too have the Stickley recliner as my listening chair. It is pretty close to perfect. Many hours on line and several furniture stores that’s where I landed. I am going to make two tables for the room too.
GdnrBob
Is the fishy thing above the diffusor a tile or wood? I really like it. B

Delkat
Jim, Remind me what interconnects you are running to the M7s? I’m thinking about upgrading my 2M Fire but not sure which of the new Mythical Creatures to go with. Seems like the Thunderbird is the best bang for the buck. ctsooner
Cant' go wrong with any of them. Thunderbird is what most of my friends are using. They are all bang for their buck guys, like I am. There is always that point of less return. Are you close enough to get thunderbird and the one before and after? (I don't know the names off hand). Whenever I'm buying cables or cords, I try to bracket the one that seems like it's the best bang to see what I'd lose or gain by going with another one. Otherwise you end up doing a LOT of listening. Huang
& what’s wrong with a LOT of listening, just kidding I know what you mean 🤣😄😄 Edited September 4 by Huang
TomicTime
@Delkat The preamp to M7 amps is Audioquest Wild Blue Yonder… at the time 1 below WEL. I had them built w reverse DBS as each M7 has 3 x 128 v DBS sockets. I’m not sure where these would fall sonically but at > 5 M…. they would be the gnp of a small country… IF i felt inclined to spend that level of $…. i would without hesitation get my 7 mk 2 back to Vandersteen for the xtrm upgrade. A less expensive upgrade i do anticipate is bedrock . I was fortunate several years ago to have the top 4 mythical creatures XLR IC in my system ( 2M ) for 2 weeks…. I used them between DAC and Phono >>>> Pre. In general i found the entry level silver to be superb but could live with top copper ( in comparison w Audioquest Sky / Niagara ( which i still own ). i didn’t find the copper better than my silver but it could roll either way. hope this helps Jim

Delkat
Do you guys think it’s more important to have better cables between the source and preamp or from the pre to the M7-HPAs? I’m sure both would be ideal. Jim, sorry I am not familiar with the earlier AQ silver based cables except for the Fire that I currently have. When you say you didn’t find the copper better than your silver, were you talking about the Thunderbird copper as compared to Sky/Niagara? How does the Fire compare to your silver? Zarf
The chair definitely makes it sound better. Stickley tables, too. Tell me more about the Gold Note phono pre? It's been on my list for a while.
TomicTime
I do enjoy my comforts…. re the Goldnote phono preamp. I like it a great deal as it is very quiet, hyper flexible front panel addressable loading, gain and EQ curves. Obviously not in same sonic or $ altitude as my ARC phono but it is fast, nimble and drives a 5M XLR cable to my linestage. I’m currently using it w Dynavector 17D3 cartridge and that seems an excellent pairing. .3 mv output. To be fair, i should note i have the optional Goldnote Power supply. i’ve no experience running it without that. Hopefully that helps ! best in music to you @Zarf Jim
