HiTekCowboy
So I've recently acquired a V2W sub as a part of a used 5.1 set (Pair of 2CE non-sig, a VCC[-1?], a pair of VSMs and the V2W). I seem to be having trouble getting the sub to output any sound at all, despite following the directions in the manual. I've made sure everything is zeroed out(pointing up) on the dials, following the hookup procedures, using a sub RCA cable( ~10Ft Audioquest Black Lab) with a ground lead on each end. As it stands, when I plug in the sub, I of course get a thump, followed by a couple seconds of hum, and then silence(unsure if the hum then silence is normal). I get (fantastic) output on all my other speakers, but again, I'm getting zero output on the sub. I've even experimented by removing all my other inputs from my pre-amp and playing something with deep bass to see if I was just getting really low volume. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what I might be doing wrong, or if there are some other steps of troubleshooting that I can take to determine whether or not I need to send in the amp module or something to be repaired? For context, my setup is as follows. Schiit Syn (5.1)Surround DAC/Pre-Amp Schiit Vidar 2 (2CE amp) Rotel RMB-100 (VCC amp) (VSMs are not hooked up yet, as I'm waiting on getting rear wiring done, but tested and working)

Send in the amp module for service with an RMA form filled out for rebuilding. RV 1
stratocaster
@HiTekCowboy have you tested the sub out from the receiver with another sub to eliminate any issues with the receiver? These subs are built like tanks and although there's always a risk of blowing the amp, in my experience Vandy speakers/subs have never failed and instead revealed upstream issues with components. Not to mention, if you do end up getting the amp module rebuilt, you don't want to blow it up again when it's installed in the sub.

For what it's worth, the sub was also the only part of the lot that I acquired that was not hooked up(the seller basically inherited it with the house) when I picked it up. Given the ridiculous(low) price I paid for the whole set, and the fact I originally only thought I was purchasing a pair of 2CEs(which the price was insanely for alone), I wasn't going to count teeth. That being said I am unsure of the history of the sub other than the seller had said she never tried setting it up, and that an "AV Tech" told her that she needed a high pass filter to run it(which made no sense given the receiver being used had an LFE/Sub out). It's for that dubious history, that in the case of the amp being blown, my pre-amp is far less likely the issue that someone earlier on doing something inadvisable, since I'm not really have any issues running the rest of the Vandies on it beautifully. HiTekCowboy
Update: So I took off the amp module from the sub (prepping to send off). By the looks of things, two of the 16V 220uF capacitors have clearly ruptured/are leaking, one from the top, and another busted and having leaked near the leads, with some corrosive bubbling occurring under the masking of one of the traces. If that isn't the main culprit, it's certainly a contributing factor. Looks like at the very least a recap will be in order(though not something I'm comfortable doing myself since disassembly looks difficult going in blind). Given the likely vintage(I've since discovered my 2CEs are Sig Is), of all my other Vandies being '01-'07, I wonder if the amp is a victim of the capacitor plague of that era. At any rate, I appreciate the responses and input.
ctsooner
Richard was correct. He’ll be able to get it up and running in no time.
