Since my AI Modulus 2C pre-amp has a phono stage, I got an Audio-Technica AT-LP70X turntable. I used to have some vinyl 15+ years ago but sold all my records in favor of going digital.  Now I'm curious about vinyl again, so I went to a record store and found this Ethel Waters record, which I'm using to test out the turntable.IMG_1202.thumb.JPG.c60189dd9d2e30bf07a34e71c24a761a.JPGIMG_1205.thumb.JPG.19b80fa83bd6f781f16c00f876fffbb0.JPG

I got another record, so now I have 2. Changing the cables to WBC Mogami 2964 improved the sound, as did cleaning the records with the record cleaning brush.

Looks like you are likely more limber than I am.  😄

My third record was skipping all over the place, and had to try to repair it with the sharp piece of chopstick, (which sort of worked.) and I already had the album on Apple Music. So I won't buy records anymore unless they are rare recordings that are not available on streaming platforms.  The Big Joe Turner record pictured above is one of those. Unfortunately I had slight issues with that one skipping too. I know my turntable is known to not be the best at tracking and the tracking force is pre-set.

Since it's hard to find music that's not on streaming I probably won't buy many more records. But I will visit record stores and take my time to look for those things I've never heard. Hopefully the vinyl will be in decent condition too, and not skip.

One of the reasons I gave up on vinyl was the number of warped records I bought over the years. I always wondered why turntable manufacturers didn't have a outer ring clamp like VPI.

You could maybe try flattenin it if you have an overt that does a low temperature reliably.

Was the chopsticks by Arther de Lulli?

IMO: Elevate the turntable to keep things cleaner.

My old Technics SL-1100A, with a Denon DL-160 high output moving coil, tracks warped records great!
