I agree when I am on a roof, or in a basement… and even with a drill/driver.

but the track saw, the jiggy, the sanders… are usually on the vacuum, and having it turn on is something I abide with.
There is the “Cordless Alliance” where Metabo and their partners are going to a single battery platform.

I have used both Mafell and FT. I like the German Mafell for most things, but I have a couple of FT sanders (belt and triangle).

I own mostly Festool in my woodshop. I love their tools for all the reasons they make them.  I can actually find the boxes I need with the parts I need (as long as I put things away properly which I always do).  They work and the company stands behind their gear.  Lot's of awesome power tools out there. NO need to go crazy if you won't use them a lot.  Interesting read.  Thanks.

Lamello also has some interesting tools and gear.
Their stuff, and Mafell, also come in the Tanos sustainers, so it is easier to stay organised.

I have the Lamello Zeta, but the Invis looks like it has application for some table and maybe VSM mounting.
The Zeta is very nice, especially if one needs to take things apart a few times like usually do… with chin scratching going on.:

At some point, I’ll probably get their invis.

Though off topic...

I am finding some great brands on this thread.

Metabo and now Lamello.

Metabow offers a cordless table saw- which is something I could use. Festool has a conversion to make their track saws into table saws, but US laws won't allow it in.

I have to say, once you own great tools, you can't go back.

Yeah we are totally off topic… but the tool are on the 🦄🌈 spectrum.
(And we get to admire the work Jon is doing

I got an Erika 85.
(The pull feature pretty much is something I use instead of a shop saw.)

I may not be the best, but I cannot blame the tools anymore.

I've use tools from all of these and yes, they are great.  I have a biscuit jointer, but have only used it once.  I usually just stick to mortise and tenon, box joints and dovetails.  Very basic stuff, that's all hand fitted etc...  Harder to do it now as I can't handle the chisels like I used to.  I just have to pick and chose when I go to teh shop.  I'm starting to make leather items.  Made a bag for my rollator and about to make another one.  Sorry for OT, but it's all part of what goes into the cabinets at least 😉. ha!!!

Oohh, nice video. I have to check that out.

But, having a cordless table saw would be a godsend. My current one resides in the garage hogging up space. We don't use it much, but when you need a tool...

Perhaps we should make an Off Topic Section, before Mr. V. whacks our knuckles with a ruler.☹️

That won't happen but I do get jealous because I wonder where you whackers find all your time!

Job 4.  Go get a component rack

I bought a rack from Arnold Marr at Core Audio Design.  I am thrilled with the final product and very much enjoyed working with Arnold. The positive press and consistent reviews of him, his company, and his products are all well deserved. While I am personally skeptical that a rack can affect audio performance, I do have to deal with Wife Acceptance Factor. And for that matter, I don’t want my living room to look like Robocop’s house either. I am a furniture nut and as I have mentioned before, I am interested in promoting and celebrating American craftspeople.

The rack is bespoke to me, it is all Zebra Wood construction to match or compliment my Quatros. I changed the shelf spacing and the top shelf edge detail.  The entire assembly weighs 180 pounds. The shelves are 2 inches thick and filled with a mix of lead shot and other materials.   I actually let Arnold pick the uprights for me, between walnut, zebra, and wenge. I told him “artist’s choice” usually yields the best results and I trusted his judgement. I showed him pictures of our furniture and my favorite pieces and told him the kinds of woodworking I like. He did not disappoint.

I will work on final install with the cones and feet tomorrow.

Jon, this past spring I too had Arnold make me two gorgeous racks which have been a real pleasure to live with. I would agree that Arnold is a great guy to work with, and a great guy to chat audio with. That zebra wood of yours is beautiful! Congratulations.

Best, John

Finished the final install of the 1.5 inch ABS pipe for conduit, and installed desk grommets for a more finished look.  All worked out nicely.

That came out very nice.

I swear I see a cat version of “The Shroud of Turin” on the wood above the the hole.
(At least an ear and whiskers.)

Ha.  I am guessing that is the shadow of the gas valve for the fireplace. However.  We do have 5 cats in the house and they like to “help” often.
