olds1959special
I’ve been through about 6-7 amps recently and in the process discovered horizontal bi-amping. At this point I’ve settled on two amps: a Hafler DH-120 for the midrange / treble and a Rotel RB-1050 for the bass. No more class D amps, they are possibly okay for bass but since I got the Rotel I have no need to change anything. The seller said he biased the Rotel amp to factory spec. I did have to attenuate the level with the volume trims. I did this by ear as I couldn’t think of a better way, just listening to music and adjusting as needed. I thought of playing pink noise and measuring but figured using my ears would be better? Edited April 18, 2023 by olds1959special
olds1959special
Maybe not as good as a single powerful amp but now that my speakers are being driven by 120+ watts I can see why they are called power hungry. It’s the sound quality at all levels, not just how loud the amp gets. Edited April 18, 2023 by olds1959special
olds1959special
Also wondering if either amp may need bias adjustments or recapping to work optimally?
