That is analogue processing.

Somewhat similar to how analogue computers were once a thing.

One can argue that a capacitor and resistor require fewer parts.
Or we can argue that changing S/W for digital domain (DSP) allows more variations to be tried.
Or we can just argue… etc… 😁
