John Gallup
Listening now on Tidal MQA. The centerpiece is an 11-minute adaptation of the second movement Rodrigo's "Concierto di Aranjuez" (which is a spectacular piece of music in its own right) and I like it better than Miles' interpretation on "Sketches of Spain." It seems to catch the sadness better. The 180-gram 2-disk vinyl is backordered everywhere.
Steve Edwards
That's quite an impressive cast John; will check it out. There's a lot of good music on CTI. Thanks for the post. Play on
John Gallup
Found the vinyl at Stereo Unlimited (in San Diego) yesterday. Not cheap, but sounds great. The liner notes mention a Whitney Balliett interview with Hall from a 1975 issue of the New Yorker, which I've attached. It contains some very fine writing about music.
