ursus13
Pretty inspiring article. “I’m still evolving,” Mr. Jamal told The Times in a phone interview last year, not long after turning 92. “Whenever I sit down at the piano, I still come up with some fresh ideas.” https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/16/obituaries/ahmad-jamal-jazz-dead.html Playing his tunes today. Brad O
I don't know about everyone else here, but I don't subscribe to The New York Times website. Sorry, no comment.
GdnrBob
A NY Times and WAPO subscription are the only things I am willing to pay for. B

Sorry, no comment. You must have used up your limit of free articles on NYT. Try again later. Ahmad Jamal’s obit is covered in all major publications, and his incredible body of work is available on all major music streaming services and on physical media. GdnrBob
Yes, the Times has gotten pretty stingy with free articles lately.
bkeske
So incredibly sad, but Ahmad ran one hell of a race. Will always cherish the time I got to see him at a small club in the mid-80’s. He blew me away, and have been a fan for life. RIP Ahmad.

Leo hi-fi
Great musician! it's always sad to loose talented musicians. But his music remains. "Poinciana" is an amazing tune and has become a classic of jazz music. I recently learned that he was a mentor for Hiromi, the wonderful Japanese piano player.
